In simplicity, there are two methods of building a commander deck that are inverses of each other. In method one, you select the commander and then build the deck in a “top down” approach. Compared to method two where you build a deck and then select a commander that supports the colors in a “bottom up” approach.

Deranged Hermit has been a favorite card for years and the original “angry hermit” deck has been something I have wanted to replicate across formats. The angry hermit deck focused on quickly ramping into a large impact spell such as Plow Under or Deranged Hermit and closed out the game through suppressing the opponent’s mana base and attacking with an infestation of creatures. After years of speculation, I finally directed my attention to crafting a commander that mirrors the angry hermit idea and adapting the strategy to a multiplayer environment using Wort, the Raidmother.
